I animated this project as a homework assignment for a School of Motion course called Advanced Motion Methods. My role was motion design and animation. The illustrations were created by Illo Design.
In this assignment, a fictional client called Focus.io needed an animated video for their new Instagram marketing campaign. The goal of the campaign was to provide quick tips to get people interested in how the Focus.io product can help them be more focused and productive throughout the day, and stop being distracted by their phone.
I wanted the motion design to complement the colorful, vibrant illustrations, so I created quick, snappy animations and transitions. I matched the movements to audio cues to give the piece a nice rhythm. The eyeball animations at the beginning and the end of the piece were an opportunity to reinforce the client’s message about distractions.
Note: I animated 0:09 – 0:30 seconds of this project. Sander van Dijk animated 0:00 – 0:09 seconds.
