A Promo for a Dance Battle TV Show

In 2021, I took an intense and challenging course from School of Motion called Design Bootcamp. This is one of my homework assignments. I was responsible for all aspects of the design process—I designed the logo, crafted the art direction, selected imagery, and designed the artboards.

The Design Brief

In a fictional scenario, Fox TV needed styleframes for a promo for a TV show called Urban Freestyle: Tokyo Throwdown. It’s a dance competition where teams of breakdancers battle in the streets of Tokyo each week.

The demographic for the show is men and women ages 18-50. The vibe of the promo should be youthful, energetic, and sexy. The boards should show the vision for how to treat green-screen footage of the dancers, how to display the names of each dance team, and how to incorporate the new logo into the design.

The Styleframes

Against a background of brightly colored shapes, a young female dancer leaps in the air, her arms reaching overhead and one leg extended
